Hot runner mould belongs to injection moulds. Cold runner moulds are another kind of injection molds. There are many kinds of mould to make the plastic. They include: hot runner injection moulds, die cast moulds, extrusion moulds, cutting mould etc. But for most of thermoplastic material, hot runner injection moulds are the most commonly used way to make plastic parts.
What is injection mould?
An injection mould is a process in which parts are assembled and contained within it a cavity into which plastic material is injected and cooled. This results in the formation of the plastic parts. It is the cavity which gives the molding its form. The cavity may be defined as the mould part which imparts shape to the molding and during the injection, there is a melting runner from the injection machine to the end of the plastic part. Once the material cools down, the runner will cool down as well. It means that the runner is left behind and is wasted.

What is a hot runner mould?
Hot runner mould uses hot runner inside the injection mould and keeps the plastic material in melting state to save the material, get better quality, shorten the cycle time.
